Managing the Cataloguing process and ensuring that all resources are optimally accessible to library users following international standards

 Leading a team of 21 employees, I am looking after the day to day affairs of the Integral University Library System that collectively supports and executing to the Library Automation & RFID Project. The Central & College Libraries has collection of about 100000 documents comprising of books, theses, dissertations and CDs/DVDs.

The Central Library and colleges library is re-organized and introduced many innovative services and facilities during my as a Asst.Librarianship that made a value addition to it.

1. Installation of Koha & Soul Library Management Software.

Working as system Manager of Koha LMS and Soul, I have customized and migrated near about 32000 data and 71000 new books created Bibliographical records on MARC21 format Cataloguing using MARC-21 & AACR-II, Classification as per DDC, Subject Heading Assignment as per Library of Congress Subject Heading (LCSH) & RFID tagging to make Central library and all college libraries operational with Koha and Soul
3. Managing the Cataloguing process and ensuring that all resources are optimally accessible to library users following international standards

5. Providing reference service and individual training sessions for students and helping them to find and evaluate relevant resources in support of learning

Responsibilities include library administration, library automation, RCCC of library documents, acquisition of library documents, indexing and abstracting of library articles, digitization of library documents using OCR technology, OPAC and WEB OPAC integration, etc. For near about 1750000 Records
Training of librarians in library automation, especially in open source library automation package KOHA. Setting up a central database with KOHA. Suppport libraries in library automation and feeding bibliographic data in central KOHA database. Collation of already existing databases from different libraries and uploading on the central database. Integrating with existing database of INFLIBNET, DELNET to constitute a union resource base. Development of Indic script based interfaces and processing/retrieval interfaces

Responsibilities Held : all cataloging duties, educate staff on appropriate cataloging procedures and policies, maintain all updated versions of appropriate manuals and monitoring other staff cataloging/processing, participate in Database Committee and Authorities Task Force using MARC-21 & AACR-II, Classification of Books using DDC. Data entry of these documents in LibSys Software. Assigning subject headings through LCSH, Searching retrieving and editing bibliographic data, extracted from the Library of Congress (USA) database through the Z39.50 interface of NGTLMS.net. Leading and supervising a team in technical processing of books. Now the library became remarkable one in Bihar State.
